It is hard to believe that in the short time since Finger Lakes Opera announced its exciting line-up of programs for the 2020 summer season, our country has been gripped with the frightening health crisis of Covid-19. We want you to know that the safety of all artists, creative team members, production crew and of course you, our patrons, is paramount. As such, we've made the difficult decision to postpone our summer 2020 season to 2021.

Finger Lakes Opera will simply take the five programs, originally scheduled to begin July 19 and end August 9, and move them to 2021. All those who were contracted for the 2020 summer season have already been offered the opportunity to return next summer. What’s more, Finger Lakes Opera will work with all twelve Tomita Young Artists from May through the end of August, as a means to expand Finger Lakes Opera’s online presence, to be able to honor a portion of the young artist’s 2020 contract and to find alternative ways to bring more opera to more people.

Finger Lakes Opera has a few educational programs scheduled for the fall at Lyric Theatre in Rochester, and, if it is safe to present them, will enthusiastically do so. Of course, if you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me. Stay safe, and be well.
