Tosca is an Italian melodramatic opera in three acts by composer Giacomo Puccini, based on Victorien Sardou’s 1887 french play, La Tosca. It premiered in Rome on January 14th, 1900. Finger Lakes Opera’s new production will be sung in Italian with projected English supertitles.
Metropolitan Opera soprano and Richard Tucker Career Grant winner Jennifer Rowley sings the title role; internationally-acclaimed Armenian tenor Yeghishe Manucharyan portrays Cavaradossi; while baritone Corey Crider makes his triumphant return to the FLO stages (Dulcamara – The Elixir of Love, 2015) in Director Fenlon Lamb’s new production (2017), with sets by Jeff Ridenour, costumes by Katharine Mott, and lighting by Nic Minetor.
